Katarzyna Hiller

Attorney at Law, Compliance Officer, LL.M. in International Commercial Law

She specialises in labour law, data protection and information security law and international business law and compliance, including ESG implementations.

Throughout all her career she has been involved in corporate services for companies with foreign capital (both EU and non-EU). She introduces foreign companies to the Polish market, advises on international business transactions, especially in the field of HR, immigration law and data protection.

In the area of current national practice, she focuses on the areas of labour law and other legal bases of employment, data and information protection and compliance in the broadest sense. She manages projects in the field of ESG. She implements internal regulations, conducts audits and training. She specialises in litigation related to labour law claims and civil and economic contracts, including international agreements.

Se advises some of the major employers operating in the following sectors: IT and Marketing Staffing, Gambling and Gaming, High Fashion, Retail Beauty, Energy, Mining and Logistics, providing them not only with daily business support, but also with representation in their dealings with employees, the social side and the authorities (PIP, Sanepid, UODO, ZUS) and the courts.

Work experience:

  • She has been with the law firm Żyglicka i Wspólnicy since 2018 as an expert in labour law and international business services.
  • On behalf of the firm’s partner Ewa Lejman-Widz, Deputy President of the Ally Law, International Association of Law Firms , Katarzyna Hiller represents our firm in the project Ally Law- Future Leaders, which brings together young lawyers from around the world who are active in the field of international law.
  • Together with Ewa Lejman-Widz, she supports the Polish Desk of the Malta-based international law corporation WHPartners, working with several legal offices in Europe and Asia.
  • Prior to joining the firm, she had been working for a law firm focused on international business services, working mainly with companies from Italy, Spain, the UK and the US, and was also employed by one of the major law corporations in Poland, where she gained her specialisation in labour law.

In her day-to-day practice, Katarzyna Hiller:

  • designs global employment structures in multinational groups;
  • develops data protection and information security documentation, including contracts, policies and documentation on the transfer of personal data to third countries;
  • handles intellectual property, data protection and non-competition in mixed employment systems, and in outsourcing;
  • drafts, reviews and negotiates civil and economic agreements pertinent to the pursuit of business, including international agreements;
  • is a member of international expert teams established to handle business projects with a cross-border element selected by the client (by way of illustration transformation, due diligence, restructuring, compliance);
  • manages ESG implementation projects; along with a team of external experts, builds ESG strategies by setting environmental, social and management objectives and then implements solutions to meet these objectives; draws up businesses for ESG reporting;
  • provides professional services in the field of termination of employment relationships and mitigation of related risks (acts, inter alia, as an attorney for employers for termination of employment relationships, but also as a mediator and expert);
  • implements creative incentive systems, including remuneration and bonus systems in large corporations;
  • carries out employment restructuring and redundancy processes;
  • concludes settlements for damages and compensation;
  • provides training – individual and group;
  • conducts complex proceedings in the field of bullying, harassment, discrimination and other undesirable phenomena in the workplace, and proceedings concerning the violation of personal rights;

Education 

  • She graduated from the 2-year Comparative Law School run by the Nicolaus Copernicus University in cooperation with the International Centre for Legal Studies in Salzburg, involving lecturers at the world’s leading universities: Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard.
  • A graduate of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where she was awarded a Master’s degree in Law and participated in the ERASMUS international student exchange programme, which enabled her to study law in Spain for one year at the Universidad de Oviedo.
  • Since 2017, a member of the Regional Chamber of Attorneys at Law in Katowice.
  • In 2022, she was awarded the title of Compliance Officer, having completed a one-year postgraduate course at the Centre for Postgraduate Education at Lazarski University in Warsaw.
  • She was awarded her LL.M in International Commercial Law in 2023, following a one-year postgraduate course at the Leon Koźmiński Academy in Warsaw.
  • She is currently expanding her knowledge of sustainability and ESG regulations, personal data protection and information security. She is in the process of getting a certification of a DPO (Data Protection Officer) and an Information Security Management System Auditor according to ISO/IEC 27001.

As regards her private life, she is a vegetarian, scuba diver and enthusiast of dance theatre and Cuban salsa.
